5/19/2023 0 Comments Over the garden wall lyricsLyrically, the song follows a man who pleads with the moon to “shine on” so he can spend more time with his girlfriend (who is afraid of the dark). Perhaps due to these origins, the song fits well with the Victorian-Edwardian-early-20th-century feel of the show. The original, “Shine On, Harvest Moon,” first came out in the early 1900s and went on to become a vaudeville and pop standard. A simple song of longing to hope for a little bit more love, “Shine On” is one of the few songs from the Over the Garden Wall soundtrack that is not entirely original to the show (the other being “Old Black Train”).
